ART 2. - AIMS

  1. The objective of the Guild is to support and promote adherence to Catholic beliefs and values in the practice of health-care.
  2. Accordingly the role of the Guild is —
    1. to affirm members' personal commitment to these values
    2. to provide mutual support, friendship and solidarity for Members in witnessing to these values in the practice of healthcare
      and
    3. to seek, principally through the witness of its members, to extend the recognition of Christian values in the sphere of heath-care generally.
  3. To fulfil its role the Guild shall —
    1. have meetings of its members when necessary
    2. organise seminars, lectures and discussions on relevant topics, which shall be open also to non-members
    3. organise or promote a variety of social and cultural activities for its members and friends of the Guild
    4. encourage members joint participation in charitable activities and undertakings
    5. facilitate prayer and liturgical worship as appropriate in connection with its activities
    6. endeavour to keep all members adequately informed regarding the teaching of the Catholic Church on ethical issues relating to health-care
    7. publish a journal or magazine at regular intervals to promote the unity of the Guild and to further it's objective
    8. maintain affiliation with CICIAMS (Comite International Catholique des Infirmiers et Assistantes Medico-Sociales)
  4. The activities at (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e) in paragraph 3 shall be conducted at national and local branch levels. The National Executive Committee shall have responsibility for discharging the functions specified at (f), (g) and (h) in paragraph 3.
